Welcome to Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to review your benefits to make sure you have the best coverage for 2017-18 fiscal year.
The Benefits Open Enrollment period will be held, April 24, 2017 through May 31, 2017. If you do not wish to make any plan changes this year, no action is required. The only plan that you must re-enroll in each year is flexible spending, which can be done online in your myPEHP account.
The University completed an Request For Proposal (RFP) in Fall 2016 for its dental, vision, life, and disability insurance products. The results of the RFP were:
The University is moving from PEHP to EMI Health for its dental insurance. Plan design (deductibles, co-pays, out-of-pocket max, premiums) will remain the same for 2017-18 as they were in 2016-17, with the dental deductible now waived if you go to an Advantage Care provider. Please go online to emihealth.com to do a provider search to verify whether your dentist covered by PEHP remains an in-network provider with EMI Health (search either premier or advantage – both are considered in-network). Click here to view the EMI Health E-Booklet of coverage. New insurance cards from EMI Health will be sent to you in mid-June. Use the EMI Dental Change Form if there are any updates to your coverage.
The University is staying with PEHP’s vision plan offers through EyeMed and Opticare. EyeMed rates decreased slightly for 2017-18 (same plan design) while Opticare plans renewed with 0% increase, same plan design.
The University is moving from The Hartford to Cigna for its life insurance. Voluntary life insurance amounts already in place will transfer to Cigna automatically and voluntary life insurance rates remain the same but as an added benefit, all DSU employees are allowed to add voluntary life insurance up to the guaranteed issuance amounts during this open enrollment without any medical underwriting. Letters about this change, costs, etc. have been sent to you in campus mail and mailed to your home address (for those with dependents). Please review this information carefully to take advantage of this great opportunity! Use the Cigna life insurance application form to sign up today.
The University is moving from The Standard to Cigna for its disability insurance. All employee coverage will transfer to Cigna automatically. This plan is now enhanced to increase LTD benefits starting 120 days (rather than 180 days) from date of disability, all at a reduced cost.
The University’s medical plan remains with PEHP with no plan design changes for 2017-18. With allocated funding from the legislature, those with traditional medical coverage will see a decrease in employee premiums and those with HDHP medical coverage (STAR plan) will see an increase in employer-paid HSA contributions starting July 1.
